The renovation of this 1960’s home is the dedication this family has to creating a loving, traditional home for themselves and their three young children.
This home is located in the Gunbarrel area of Boulder, with great schools, parks, and mature neighborhoods. Outdoor Craftsmen, Inc., designed and installed a unique outdoor living space that stretched the possibilities of the imagination of the Byron’s dream garden.
We utilized many of the plants from the existing garden. We transplanted most all of the perennials and we were able to save (with some creative pruning) some of the shrubs and trees. Most of the new plantings are Xeric, allowing for a beautiful yet water conscious garden.
The garden features a fabulous freeform Mahogany deck with granite boulders sculpted in to the decking and an arched pergola structure spanning the dining area.
The grade transition in the yard allows the hot tub to be set flush on the deck, which creates a strong visualization for the varying elevations on the property.
With three young children the Byron’s wanted their garden to be ‘kid friendly,’ so Outdoor Craftsmen, Inc., designed a playground at one end of the yard that can evolve as the children grow up. At the opposite end of the yard, Mr. Byron wanted an area where he and his friends can lounge in the evenings around a built in fire pit set in a woodsy backdrop.
The main feature is a waterfall that offers the gentle, soothing sound of running water as a back drop at the edge of the deck. A vaulted water recirculation system has been utilized primarily as a safety feature, minimizing any water depth exceeding ½ “.
Gravel and Pennsylvania Blue Stone paths welcome visitors to flow in and around the garden, encouraging exploration to what may be around the next corner.
