What to do with the Boulder Residents that have an existing landscape that is already pretty nice? How do you give it a completely new look while maintaining many of it's healthy features?
Outdoorcraftsmen, LTD. determined that the first thing was to remove the plain concrete walkway and front stoop and install a beautifully flowing natural stone pathway that passes through the garden.
The second major aesthetic enhancement was to add a significant amount of large granite boulders to stand as sculptural elements creating drama and balance in the garden.
Thirdly, the reduction of turf spaces in the front, allowed Outdoorcraftsmen, LTD. to install a wide array of plantings that have a full range of habitual sensitivity needs.
Being north facing and having many mature trees shading a significant portion of this garden, allowed for the use of many fun shade-loving plants such as hosts, bleeding heart, sweet woodruff, lungwart, ligularia and many different ferns, which aren't always happy growing in our hot, sunny, desert environment.
Transition pathways from one area to another around the house is the cohesive element that ties the aesthetic of the gardens all together. The continuous flow of seasonal color helps to enhance the curb appeal of the home and make this space a true garden setting.
Many of the existing structural elements such as the aspen, large spruce and bed of healthy low junipers, lent itself with only a few additions, to form a lush buffer between the street and the new garden space. These new elements have given a fresh look to a beautiful home.
